Service Description: This dataset is a mosaic of SPOT 4 and SPOT 5 satellite imagery that covers the Northwest Territories and adjacent areas in the Yukon Territory, Nunavut Territory, British Columbia and Alberta. Individual SPOT images were downloaded from Geobase.ca, and full FGDC metadata for the individual images and additional information on the SPOT satellite is available from the geobase website (http://www.geobase.ca/geobase/en/data/imagery/imr/index.html). These images were acquired over a 5 year period between 2005-2010. Processing conducted at the NWT Centre for Geomatics included pan-fusion of the 20 meter 'color' image bands with the 10 meter panchromatic band, creating a composite image which has 10 meter resolution and red-green-blue colours. No color correction or color balancing has been applied to the imagery. Images were downloaded from http:\\www.geobase.ca in UTM, NAD 83 projection. All images includes 'No Data" areas between the coloured part of the image and the file extent. During the mosaic process (ArcMap GIS software), the NoData areas were set to transparent, This included all areas within the image which had values of 0,0,0 (black, black, black) for each of the three image channels. However, this procedure also affected all areas of the image which had values of 0,0,0, as a result, some areas within the darker coloured areas of the image appear as white, or empty pixels. This is a result of the mosaic process, and not an error within the SPOT data. NOTE: This Service is continously cached until 1:35,000 scale, which is the optimal scale for viewing 10 m Spot resolution. This service may not be cache in specific areas any scale larger than 1:30,000.
